Rutabagas.
Private to Frank and Alice.
Do you two need anything? Anything at all. I stopped by this morning to tell mum about the fire since I wasn't sure if Al would bring it up and she is beside herself. So expect baskets upon baskets of food and quilts to be coming your way. And if you get a chance one of you might want to stop by so she can see for herself you aren't burnt to a crisp.
Juls.
Have you heard from Frank today, love?
Dorcas.
I need an hour of your time.
Marlene.
I've got your gift here at the house. Think you could spare an evening to have dinner this week? |

[Jun. 8th, 2010|10:48 am] |
Just once I'd like to wake up to a journal full of talk about gardening. Rutabagas don't get nearly enough attention these days. And really, carrots and onions are already grown enough to be picked. And the sun is shining.
All through the Ministry too. It took me a good chunk of the morning but every window at the ministry is now looking over a garden, with a blue sky with fat white clouds and sunshine.
Marlene.
I don't know if the radio is addictive or if I just didn't get it all out of my system last week but I want to do another. Maybe just you and me this time? Or at the very least we ask Gideon and Remus and people who don't shout.
Julia.
Have you heard anything about Frank? I'm so sorry that this keeps happening love but-- well, I don't really have any words that make things better, but I can get us onto the roof of the Ministry for lunch.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to see you for breakfast but mum wanted to chat. I guess she's sort of figured out that your living here is permanent and she wasn't happy about it, but not because she doesn't think your fantastic. She does. Something about some woman who lived with a man for nine years and he never married her and doesn't want me ruining you. But I assured her that I have every intention of proposing after it's been long enough and that you and I will be married and happy, and that you living with me is to keep you safe, and she seemed to calm down. Even packed us some food in a bag, somewhat grudgingly. But she'll get over it before too long.
There's nobody in the world who can resist you.
Alice.
If you need anything let me know.
Lee.
How long did you and Hannah date before you knew she was the one? |

Where are you, love?
Alice.
Do something about your husband, will you? |

Order.
I know Alice mentioned this but since not everyone always reads down in the comments I brought it into a separate post. I think this announcement calls for a radio interruption. I'm not sure how well they can track signals with magic, but I think it'd be safest if we did it somewhere that wasn't inhabited. Maybe one of Lestrange's properties that you were talking about, Dorcas?
Anyway, I was thinking we could try it there and do it the night of the full moon since pretty much everyone will be sitting inside listening to the wireless.
Juls.
How would you feel about staying with Sus the night of the full moon? I'm going to be checking on Al (from a distance obviously) and so I'll be out, but I promise I'll be careful and I just want to make sure that you're safe because that's the most important thing in the world to me.
Ossie.
We need a backyard bonfire. I need to burn things. |

Frank.
I need you to come to my place right now if you can. There's a dead body at Julia's old place that was charmed to look like you and she's freaking out and just... please get over here.
DMLE.
I need to report a dead body. It's wrapped in a burlap sack at this address.
*insert Julia's old address here*.
It's been charmed to look like Frank Longbottom.
Ossie.
Can you come over? |

Order.
Since Greyback isn't making any secret of it, I figured you could hear it from me. My brother Al got bit during the full moon. He's in Creature Induced Injuries and they still haven't been able to tell us if he's going to make it.
Amelia.
I'm not ignoring you, so I hope you don't think that. I've just been feeling sort of lost. How are you doing?
Juls, Freya and Oscar.
They still can't tell us anything about Al. I can't stay here again all day, I just can't.
Think we could all hang out at my place tonight? I know I'm not a barrel of laughs or anything but we can play cards or sit on the porch and not talk. I really don't care. I'll buy dinner. |

[Apr. 28th, 2010|10:51 pm] |
At least the journals settle down when the sun sets.
Ossie.
Are you busy?
Jules.
I feel completely out of my mind so I'm sorry I've sort of locked myself upstairs. I just think it'd be better since I can't stop pacing and feeling twitchy but I have a favor to ask. Can you look in the freezer and see if we have any steak and then bring it up here? I'll cook it with my wand, that's fine. |

[Apr. 26th, 2010|09:23 am] |
I know it might be a little soon to be back to work but I am today. I can walk around just fine, and lift my arms a little, and that means I'm at least well enough to write a schedule and check on things and fix some of the windows.
My apologies to anyone who ended up with hurricanes several days in a row. Weather charms are temperamental and if the caster is feeling nervous bad weather tends to pop up is all. There was never any offense meant by it.
Alice.
When are you taking your lunch?
Amelia.
I need-- well, it's hard to explain. Freya wrote me this crazy note while she thought I was dying and she said a lot of stuff I'd like to talk to her about, but it's Freya. So probably best left unsaid, I know. I guess I was just wondering if you thought she'd be up for a chat now or if I should let this lie. And also if you have an pain potions in your desk.
Juls and Ossie.
Don't yell at me. You weren't here and I really do feel up for being out. I won't do anything but be here at work and then apparate straight home. Anyway, Crouch fired one of the best maintenance guys while I was home because he couldn't get his window right. I've already owled David to rehire him, since I figure Crouch has bigger things to worry about.
Dorcas.
Be careful, sis. You probably should have thought before including me in that vigilante of the vigilantes wards, but to tell you the truth-- I don't think it's such a bad idea. I won't be telling anyone anyway, and I wish I could help. Just be careful, and I mean that. If you need an excuse to get out of the house tell mum you're coming to visit me. I'll cover for you. |

[Apr. 19th, 2010|11:33 am] |
Home sweet home. I miss work so hopefully not for too long though. The healer said that I'm recovering much faster than he expected and that even if I might not be able to lift things for awhile I'll be able to write any day now, and wand movement should be fine before Wednesday or Thursday.
All good news.
[Oscar]
Would you mind putting up some heavy wards around the house when you get off work this afternoon?
[Julia]
Have I told you yet this morning that you're the prettiest nurse I've ever seen? |

[Apr. 17th, 2010|09:52 am] |
I haven't used a DictaQuill© in ages but I can't write without one for another day or two. New line please. No, don't write that. Just make another line. And strike that out. Fine. But just wait till I'm able to experiment on you.
New line.
Oh! That convinced you, did it? Strike all of that and begin again.
Hi. This is weird. |

[Apr. 11th, 2010|10:05 pm] |
I just won a staring contest against my dog. I guess now she knows who's the boss around here.
Marlene.
Do you need anything?
Freya.
Had to run into work today to fix something in the DMLE and overheard some people talking about what happened to your mum. I'm so sorry Frey. Is there anything I can do? Even if it's just a hug or letting you make fun of me over something stupid or well-- anything.
Oscar.
The world is an ugly place so I charmed my entire kitchen yellow. This did not help.
Julia.
Mum wanted me to tell you she finished the next Centaur Love novel if you want to read it. I flipped through the pages and it looks pretty spicy! |

I feel old.
[Julia.]
How are you with clothing charms?
[Ossie.]
Annie, huh? You still haven't told me how that happened.
[Al.]
Be careful, okay?
[Edited later to add a ward to Dorcas.]
Hey, do you have a minute? |

[Mar. 23rd, 2010|04:44 pm] |
I'm pretty sure one of my dogs has lost a full fourth of its body weight since January. (Don't feel bad for him, he looked like a ten pound sausage in a five pound packing.) I'm king of the dog diet plans.
[Dorcas.]
Still alive?
[Amelia and Al.]
What night do you want your birthday party?
[Ossie and Freya.]
I asked Al and Amelia when they wanted their joint birthday party because there's no point in trying to surprise two Hitwizards with unpredictable schedules. But that's the extent of their say in things. Well, Amelia did suggest we go back in time to 1971 which I'm fine with, but everything else is up to us.
Here's the guest list I have so far:
Al Amelia Oscar Freya Callum - Do you want him here Frey? Desmond Frank Alice Julia - Maybe Dorcas - Invited but I doubt she'll stay that night.
I can't think of anyone else off the top of my head but it doesn't mean other people shouldn't be on there. Also, I figured we'd have it here since we can take as long as we want to decorate and people can sleep over if they need to and if they want more beds they can wander over to Oscar's.
So I think that leaves decorations and food and alcohol. Thoughts? |

[Mar. 22nd, 2010|02:34 pm] |
[DMLE.]
There's a crowd gathering down here and more people are coming in by the minute. I think a good portion of them are press but other people just look angry. The lifts won't work without badges but they aren't leaving and Magical Maintenance isn't exactly meant to be used as security.
Could you send someone to the atrium please?
[Oscar.]
My day is not looking good.
[Julia.]
Did you see the Prophet? |

I'm taking a poll. Anyone else up for scrapping 1979 while there are still a few of us left alive and moving straight to 1980? I'll invite you to a New Year's Eve party at the beginning of April?
I'm sure the calendar will get over it eventually.
[Oscar and Julia]
I already put you both down for a yesses.
[Frank, Alice, Caradoc, Al, Liam, Amelia, Emmeline, Caradoc]
My office has three cots in it now. They're charmed to look like windows but if you give any of the three new windows a tug it'll pull flat off the wall until it's something you can sleep on. Ugly but comfortable quilts and pillows are in the left, bottom desk drawer.
I always keep snacks in a tiny fridge under my desk.
Make yourself at home if you ever manage a break from all these doubles.
[Frank and Alice]
If you have sex on my desk I'm going to be so grossed out I think I'll have to quit my job. Seriously. No sex on my desk. That's disgusting. I eat on this desk.
[Al]
I went to fix Lee's sink and it looks like the pipes were broken because he kicked through the entire cabinet and the pipes underneath. He's not going to talk about this but he needs us anyway.
I think we should ask Hannah for permission to grab him either Saturday or Sunday afternoon (or whenever the funeral isn't) and drag him out to the lake. It's quiet and peaceful there and we can pack a lunch and throw rocks into the water or catch fish while he sits on a picnic table and ignores us. If you don't want to come along you don't have to, but I think it'd probably be better if you were there. Adam may have been a git sometimes and Lee may be a git most of the time, but I can't help but think if it was Oscar or Frank he'd try to be decent about it. |

[Mar. 16th, 2010|09:04 pm] |
Mr. Oscar Bones.
I'm going to talk to you in your journal but I wanted to say HI because I can. HI.
Julia.
Hey. It's been awhile.
Order.
After talking with my mum today I got some good news and some bad news and some unexpected news.
Good: Seems like lots of people heard the radio show and mum said her friends talked about it all last night and today.
Bad: Some of what they were talking about is the fact that we took off their favorite show?
Unexpected: When Marlene and I were working this out we thought we'd only take up a channel on the end of the dial but I guess I got over-enthusiastic and we ended up landing over much closer to where people actually listen. I'm pretty sure that's illegal? Some sort of radio piracy?
So. The big question is, I think I know how to tune it down now. Do we want to be a little heard or better heard? |

[Mar. 12th, 2010|12:52 pm] |
I don't think I've ever been so happy to have a Friday roll around in my life. Bring on the weekend and a Sunday dinner that is finally going to be happy!
Order.
I'm free for most of the weekend except Sunday evening, so can anyone else come over to help me go through these records? If it's before 2 in the afternoon I'll make waffles. They're sort of legendary. And not the kind of legend that involves the house burning down, I swear.
Also, I need some help with wards for my mum and dad's house. Ordinarily I'd just have me or Frank and Alice do it but mum seems to have a hard time believing we're not all sixteen and planning on fooling around with them just so we can sneak beer into the backyard. So... Edgar or Emmeline? You two can at least fake looking official and grown up?
Al.
I'm kidnapping you tonight for brother time. Don't say no. That would ruin the part where I'm calling it a kidnapping.
Dorcas.
Don't worry too much about me asking for extra help on the wards. I realized that with the way I had them set, if people come in through the back |
|
|
| |
[Mar. 10th, 2010|11:39 pm] |
Dorcas.
I won't be home for awhile. Go ahead and set the night wards.
Frank.
Did you know about this beforehand?
Amelia.
Is Al with you? I need to see if he borrowed one of my wrenches but I don't want to bother him if he's at work.
Julia.
Are you up? |
